Property dispute between siblings results in woman's murder

KUALA LUMPUR: A property dispute between two siblings led to the murder of a woman at Jinjang Utara here.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm S. Shanmugamoorthy said the incident occurred on Friday (Feb 21) evening.

“Our personnel manning the counter at the Jinjang police station were notified by youths claiming their mother had been hacked by their uncle at a house along Jalan Indah 10, Jinjang Utara.

“An investigation officer and medical personnel were rushed to the scene but the woman was pronounced dead by an assistant medical officer from the Selayang Hospital at the scene,” he said when contacted on Saturday (Feb 22).

He said that the initial investigation revealed the incident occurred at around 6.30pm.

“The victim in her 30s had just entered the hall in the house after work when her younger brother ran amok and hacked her with a parang and axe.

“Our investigations revealed that the suspect acted that way because he was upset over the ownership of the house the victim and her family were staying in,” he said, adding that the suspect – who is also in his 30s – has been arrested.

He said that the police have seized the weapons used by the suspect and have remanded him to help with further investigations.

“The body was sent to the Hospital Kuala Lumpur forensic unit for a post-mortem.

There were witnesses during the incident,” he said, adding that the case was investigated as murder.
