Across the province there are 16,628 active cases of the virus, the highest in the country. Of those, 7,552 are in the Edmonton Zone, which includes the city of Edmonton and surrounding municipalities.
The city of Edmonton has 6,033 active cases, or 590.5 per 100,000 people.

Hinshaw said there are 393 schools, or about 16 per cent of all schools, across the province that have active COVID-19 alerts or outbreaks. These schools have a combined total of 1,453 active cases.
The latest COVID-19 cases numbers from Edmonton Public Schools show outbreaks declared at Michael Phair School, Sifton School, Hospital Campus, Velma E. Baker School, Horse Hill School and Meyokumin School.
In a statement Tuesday, Edmonton Public Schools spokeswoman Anna Batchelor said previously the school division had only been reporting cases of COVID-19 that were confirmed by Alberta Health Services (AHS). However, due to recent changes to contact tracing, positive cases they are aware of may not be confirmed by AHS moving forward.
“Our division has encouraged families and staff members to inform their school when they test positive for COVID-19. When a school learns an individual has tested positive, out of an abundance of caution, schools share recommended quarantine dates with those who are potential close contacts,” Batchelor said.
