Game/season notes: This was his first game since March 9 for Buffalo. I’ve said his game reminds me of Jordan Eberle’s game, and I’ll stick to that. He had lots of good moments with the puck in this game. Despite his goal and two assists, he played a relatively quiet game in the second and third periods. He does not dominate the puck, but handles it skillfully and moves it rapidly. He played 18:21 this game, was +2, three points, and won 10 out of 14 faceoffs, with three shots on net.
Filip Berglund of Linkopings, 2, vs Djurgardens, 6, Nov. 11. Game Grade = 4
Shift notes: On his first shift, breaks up a few passes at centre ice. Next shift, loses a battle behind the net resulting in a pass out for a dangerous shot attempt. Deked on the rush, then beat out of the corner for a Grade A slot shot. Bit slow on a o-zone pinch as puck gets cleared. Rips a hard low shot on net on the power play, then makes a slick pass into the slot. He turns over a puck allowing for an outside shot, which the goalie inexplicably fails to stop. Blocks a slot shot on the PK. Cuts the puck off at centre ice and sends his team on a counterattack. Loses a battle on a pinch and is slow the back check as Djurgardens streaks down the ice to score. In the third, takes a tough pass back to the point, keeps it in and moves the puck smartly to his partner. Pinches hard and wins puck in o-zone corner.
Game/season notes: He played 21:39, about his season average and was -2. His team has just four wins in 13 games. I’ve seen him twice now and have yet to see his best game, I’m sure. At this point, he’s coming across as one of those big, strong, less than mobile d-men, who are OK at passing, strong at shooting but could use more agility, a Barry Long or Kurtis Foster type.
Evan Bouchard of Sobertalje SK, 6, vs MODO, 2. Grade = 6.
Shift notes: Great diagonal stretch pass on first shift. Lost a battle behind his net but won one in front of it on his second shift. He scores a big goal early in the second, a one-timer slapper from the bueline on the power play to tie the score at one. At the end of a power play, turns the puck over to a player charging out of the penalty box, leading to a Grade B scoring chance shot against. Turns the puck over with an errant n-zone pass, which leads to a quick counterattack, breakaway and MODO goal. Advances the puck repeatedly with a series of fast and accurate passes. Turns over the puck in the d-zone in the third, leading to a point shot against.
