JSA tours to inter-Korean border will resume after nearly a year of closures


UNC did not give a specific date, but said that tours will start again “in the near future”

Tours to the Joint Security Area along the inter-Korean border will start up again after nearly a year of African Swine Fever-related closures, the United Nations Command (UNC) announced on Monday.The tours first reportedly came to a halt in Oct. 2019, when the threat of African Swine Fever (ASF) cases coming from the DPRK put South Korea’s pork livestock at risk. At the time, South Korea was already on its way to mass culling (slaughtering) hundreds of thousands of pigs as a preventative measure to protect the domestic economy.The tours typically take visitors to the iconic blue buildings
