Steady rain has fallen over much of Geelong on Wednesday but more serious thunderstorms could be yet to erupt into the evening.
By 4pm the city had recorded 5.2mm, with some suburbs copped isolated storms rumbling overhead around school pick-up.
Aireys Inlet had 8mm, while parts of the Otways hinterland received the best of the early rainfall.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s forecast says resident should expect thundery rain into the evening, with some more concentrated thunderstorms and potentially gutsy winds, though no warnings have yet to be issued for the Geelong region.
Severe thunderstorms are currently focused on northern parts of Victoria, while the Otways are part of a severe weather warning for winds of up to 90km/h in elevated area later tonight.
